Web Application Programmer (WD1)

(Near Richmond, 20 minutes from London Waterloo and London Victoria)

Salary 22k to 26k dependent on candidate and experience.

We are looking for a new web developer to join our technical team.

The successful candidate must be professional, a good communicator, passionate, enthusiastic, and a strong team player possessing a good sense of humour. They should be keen to broaden their skill sets and enthusiastic to take on new challenges. The ideal candidate would be pro-active, self-managed and able to show creative initiative.

The candidates must:
  • Be able to demonstrate ability in programming both OO and scripting languages
  • Be able to learn new languages and technologies quickly
  • Have experience in application development
  • Have experience using XML with XPath for data modeling and inspection
  • Be able to spot and abstract patterns from code
  • Be familiar with object modeling, class diagrams, database design
  • Have a working knowledge of SQL and database technologies
  • Have experience with web technologies such as XHTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Be comfortable working in a team and dealing with clients
  • Be able to write clear documentation, specifications and requirements


Your role will involve the development and maintenance of new and existing websites and web applications. As an integral part of the role you will be required to liaise with clients to discuss and resolve technical based queries. Your daily workload will generally include:

  • Analysis of requirements and authoring of functional specifications.
  • Developing success criteria, unit tests and documentation.
  • Developing functionality for sites using scripting languages and databases.
  • Supporting the development of a next generation scripting language.
  • Configuring apache httpd, databases and shell scripting.
  • Assisting the marketing department with client presentations.
  • Assisting sales with technical feasibility and assessing business value.
  • Some support-desk work.
